I am associate professor at Universitat Pompeu Fabra (UPF) in the Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (AIML) research group. I am also the director of the Erasmus Mundus Joint Master in Artificial Intelligence and coordinator the Master of Intelligent and Interactive Systems.
I earned my PhD from UPF in 2008, after which I worked for over six years as a research scientist at the Donders Institute for Brain, Cognition, and Behaviour at Radboud University Nijmegen, in the Netherlands. In 2014, I rejoined the AIML research group at UPF through a transnational academic career scholarship (FP7 Marie Curie Actions). Subsequently, I was awarded a Ramón y Cajal fellowship.
My research interests lie at the intersection of artificial intelligence, machine learning, and data science, with a focus on graphs and networks, reinforcement learning, and probabilistic inference. I develop novel methods and analyze their theoretical properties to address challenges in social and information systems.
